Kids need something extra to keep them interested in their learning.  If you are teaching kids on the third grade then 3rd grade math games are perfect to keep your students interested.  The beauty of having math games as an alternative is that it will help them learn math concepts while having fun. One game that you should try to play is bingo.  The game of bingo will help your students to learn important concepts of multiplication.  Here’s how you play this multiplication bingo game.  You will use old bingo game cards and these cards will serve as your students answer cards.  You will then list some multiplication problems on the board.  Those who have the answer on their bingo cards will mark their number.  If a pupil gets 5 straight then he/she wins the bingo game.  This is just one example of 3rd grade math games that you could teach your students

Another great 3rd grade math games to play is around the world.  You can use this game to teach division, multiplication, and even place value.  You will need some flash cards for this game.  Prepare flash cards related to the math concepts that you want to teach.  The next thing that you have to do is to have the children seated in a circle.  Whenever a child answers a flashcard correctly, he/she will be asked to move one spot clockwise.  Whoever makes it back to his original position will be the winner.  There are a lot more 3rd grade math gamesthat you could teach your students.

Another 3rd grade math games that is fun to do is steal the bacon.  You can use the rules of this game to teach math concepts on all topics but it is best used to teach the concepts of division and multiplication.  What you need to do is to from two groups.  The concept of the game is for the teams to gain possession of the bacon.  The bacon could be a ball, a stick or anything that will not be harmful to the pupils.  You will assign numbers to the students.  These numbers will represent answers to the questions.  Only those students which are assigned to the number of the correct answer will be allowed to steal the bacon.  This is another example of 3rd grade math games that you can use.

3rd grade math games is one of the best learning tools that you can use to teach your third grade kids mathematical concepts.  You must face it, only a few students like and others still need encouragement for tem t exert effort in learning math.  Through these 3rd grade math games you can encourage your students to learn math concepts and have fun doing it.

Here is another interesting math game – War:

It uses a standard deck of playing cards with face cards removed.  Divide the deck between two students. Determine the type of math function you wish the students to practice. Addition and multiplication work best.  Have your students flip over the top card in his or her deck. They then apply the chosen function to the two numbers that are revealed. For example, if you are practicing addition, the students should add the two numbers that are revealed on their cards. The first to get the correct answer wins that round.  Continue until the deck is exhausted, or until you or the students are exhausted. :-)
